Forecast Discussion

A strong upper-level low remains just off the Mid-Atlantic Coast. A moist, chilly NW flow continues across the Southern Appalachians. This feature will slowly slide east tonight and tomorrow. A second upper-level low will pass through Texas Tuesday, reaches the Gulf Coast Wednesday, and will be near the Carolina Coast by Thursday. We'll have a break between systems Friday and Saturday ahead of a cold front that will move through early Sunday morning.

The results of this "March" of systems for us...
Today and Tuesday: Expect clouds, gusty winds, and chilly temperatures. A few rain and snow showers will persist through early Tuesday morning. A few snowflakes are possible down to 3000' elevations, but light accumulations will be limited to 4500'+. Clouds will be stubborn Tuesday, but some sun will break through by afternoon. Tuesday will be a few degrees warmer than today.
Wednesday and Thursday: Rain showers will develop again Wednesday and last into early Thursday morning. This time around, snowflakes will be limited mostly to 4000'+ land with only 5000'+ elevations seeing any accumulation (maybe not even there). Temperatures will remain on the cool side of normal Wednesday with cloudy skies. Thursday, temperatures will creep higher in the afternoon (still slightly below mid-March normals).
Friday through daytime Saturday: These are the most pleasant days of the week with scattered clouds and temperatures somewhat milder. Clouds will increase Saturday afternoon.
Saturday night and Sunday: Skies will become cloudy Saturday night and rain is expected after midnight. Rain showers will continue into Sunday; however, temperatures will fall sharply behind the front and snow showers will be back Sunday afternoon and Sunday night.
