Forecast Last Updated at Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 4:36PM

Pleasant Night

After a really nice and warm Wednesday, we have one more warm day to look forward to on Thursday. A front moves through from the west Friday. Isolated showers develop late Thursday afternoon or evening and pick up the tempo through Friday daytime. Behind the front the weekend is delightful!

Merlefest 2019 is this week, Thursday through Sunday. In 4 days, you can see: The Avett Brothers, Sam Bush, Wynonna Judd, Brandi Carlile, Steep Canyon Rangers, Amos Lee, Keb Mo, Dailey and Vincent, Scythian, Radney Foster, Kruger Brothers, Chatham County Line, The Waybacks, and nearly 100 other great artists. Weather... After showers and thundershowers Thursday night into Friday, we are hoping for dry weather for the rest of the festival. See our Hourly Forecast for details.

Tuesday - More afternoon clouds; Cannot rule out a PM shower; High in the lower 70s; Low in the lower 50s

Forecast Discussion

Clouds increase Thursday as a frontal boundary approaches from the mid-Mississippi Valley and scoots through Friday. I really think most of us stay dry until Thursday night, but a few vagabond showers could develop by late afternoon. Most of the action is tied closer to the front so Friday morning into early Friday afternoon is the wettest time frame. We'll be drying out by Friday evening. Friday is cooler thanks to clouds and showers and the passing front.

The weekend is very nice. A secondary front moves through Sunday and we have a nonzero threat of a passing daytime shower, but it's not worth the effort of mentioning yet.

High pressure builds over the southeast to start the work week leading to ample sunshine and a warming trend. Essentially the forecast is playing out much like it should for late April. No surprises.
