Dan's Starry Skies
by Dan Caton

Latest Update: December 13, 2009

The radiant point in Gemini is marked in red.
Tonight (Sunday, the 13th), we will have the peak of the Geminid meteor shower at midnight. The sky will be dark--no moon to bother us--and the peak rate could be as high as 120/hour! it may clear off for us so if it does, give the meteor shower a try! The view at left shows the radiant point marked in red, in the constellation of Gemini. This point will be almost straight overhead at midnight. The vies below show that region of the sky, with south downward and the full sky view for context.

Looking south, from Mars to the east to Aldebaran to the west.

The whole sky at midnight--Gemini is near the center (find Pollux and Castor).
